WORK will start next month on a manufactured home estate south of Port Macquarie.
The project at Lake Cathie, called The Ocean Club, will feature 260 manufactured houses and community facilities including pool, bowling green, tennis courts and clubhouse.
Sydney-based company Huntingdale Properties hopes to have the civil work, community facilities and the first 10 houses completed by the end of next year.
The developers believe the Mid-North Coast, and the Hastings in particular, was "crying out for active sustainable lifestyle resort communities" such as The Ocean Club.
It is anticipated 400 residents will call The Ocean Club home after its completion.
Huntingdale Properties principal John Gilmour said the aim was to have high architectural standards across the estate.
"We want to be absolutely proud of the end result," he said.
Mr Gilmour said the manufactured houses would be built on concrete slabs.
"The beauty of these properties is residents get a freestanding home and the use of all the community facilities," he said.
