SEVEN months after opening, things are as busy as ever at the $120 million Ocean Club Resort, Lake Cathie.

To meet the demand, building activity has ramped up with another 31 new homes under construction. The new over 50's community comprising some 300 homes is the largest resort housing development on the north coast.

Director of Huntingdale Properties, John Gilmour said, "We've been delighted with the response since opening. Prospective residents really identify with our offering of architect designed, (slab on ground) homes with and world class facilities, at affordable prices.

"The other point of difference is that the age of our residents is much younger than other communities. Our residents are active, social and travel regularly knowing that when they're away, we're looking after all the maintenance."

Mr Gilmour commented that Ocean Club Resort's best salespeople will always be the residents.

Lately, residents have been moving into their new homes such as Anna Wilson and her husband David who have relocated from chilly Armidale. Like many others, the Wilson's searched up and down the coast for a place they could call home and a few months ago visited the resort.

"I saw our home being built and was amazed at the quality of construction," says Anna.

"We needed a freestanding two bedroom, two bathroom home with our own separate areas to enjoy our hobbies and space for when our grand children could stay, and now we're here I'm delighted that all our furniture fits in beautifully."

Anna is looking forward to the social activities that lie ahead which will happen in the magnificent clubhouse at the centre of the resort. But she won't have to wait too long because drinks are scheduled for 4 o'clock this afternoon.
