About Ocean Club Resort

The concept for the first over 50s luxury resort in NSW was the brainchild of Sydney based investment company Gwynvill Group and developer Huntingdale Properties.

Gwynvill’s Sean Tieck and Huntingdale Properties’ John Gilmour spent considerable time, travel and research to determine a location from which they would turn the concept of retirement living on its head with the development of Ocean Club Resort.

The partners agreed that the mid-north coast (and the Lake Cathie site in particular) was the standout location. Then, over a seven-year period, the vast 25 hectare property holding was secured. The next challenging stage involved the application and approval on the overall planning and design from Port Macquarie Hastings Council, which eventually lead to the final construction of the resort, opening in January 2013.

The response from the over 50s community, especially those who are active, healthy and looking for literally the time of their life, has been phenomenal. In a short space of time, the community has grown to more than 300 homeowners.

Ocean Club Resort is a long-term investment project for the partners who are thrilled that the concept of luxury resort style living at an affordable price, has been so widely embraced. Emotionally, financially and socially it just makes sense.

Planning is underway for five new developments that will become similar upmarket communities - also operating under the Ocean Club brand. This pipeline of 1,500 dwellings will be located in high demand locations - adjacent to the current Ocean Club site and at Wauchope and Port Stephens.

There’s a big difference between a retirement village and a Land Lease community.

Retirees want financial security to ensure all they have worked for is protected and responsibly utilised at a time they are free to enjoy their life.

Just to be clear, Ocean Club Resort is not a retirement village - it’s a Land Lease community, and offers its mostly younger, active residents a whole range of financial benefits:

  • You own your home and pay an affordable fee for the land and the community’s five-star facilities.
  • No entrance fees
  • No exit fees
  • No stamp duty
  • No council rates
  • When you sell your home, you keep the capital gains...and yes, you can leave your home in your will.

Everything is laid out clearly for you in a Site Agreement in plain language. The Agreement outlines the weekly fee and all that it covers, including maintenance of all resort facilities so that you don’t have to worry.

If you’re on a pension or receive payments through Centrelink or Veterans Affairs, you may even receive rental assistance on your site fees.
